Structured hazard identification and chemical consequence modelling for process plants,
chemical facilities, and industrial operations using ALOHA and CAMEO Chemicals
A HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) study is a systematic, structured review of a process or
operation to identify hazards that could lead to accidents, environmental harm, or significant
operational disruptions. A trained team examines each part of the process against a set of guide
words to identify what could go wrong, what the consequences are, and what safeguards are
needed.
In India, HAZOP studies are required under the Manufacture, Storage and Import of Hazardous
Chemicals (MSIHC) Rules for facilities handling Schedule 1 chemicals above threshold
quantities. They are also required under PNGRB regulations for oil and gas infrastructure, and
form part of MoEFCC environmental clearance conditions for high-risk project categories.
Beyond regulatory obligation, a well-conducted HAZOP protects your workforce, your facility,
and your licence to operate.
